Miss Temper

On Monday Haley made her first trip to the library. I had looked online to see that story time was on Monday's so Grandma took her only to find out they don't have it during the summer. But while they were there, another grandma had her granddaughter showed up so the two girls ended up playing with each other. Haley really liked the puzzles and was "talking" away to the other girl. Grandma tried to explain using a library voice but the more she told her to whisper the louder Haley got! Then the pre-school kids came in from day care and Haley was so excited she just wouldn't stop talking. She loved all the kiddos and had a good time. Grandma got Haley some books and hopefully they will go back soon.
On to Ms. Temper. Her personality has really started to come thru and I think Haley is trying to test us at times. Like yesterday when she tried to dump over Buster's bowl. I told her NO in a very stern voice and she laughed at me. Oh boy...I think we're in for it! She has managed to throw a few temper tantrums too but they are too cute to get mad at yet.
She has also become quite the climber. It seems like overnight she figured out how to climb up grandma's stairs. Within 2 seconds she is up at the top. I think she goes fast because she knows she shouldn't be doing it. We haven't bought a gate yet for Grandma's but have devised a temporary plan. So on Monday after Grandma caught Haley going up the stairs she put a road block in the way and Haley gave Grandma the meanest stare and then started crying huge tears. If she is not climbing up or over then she is under something. She loves to go under the tables, especially if the dogs are under there. Good thing Buster is pretty good with her and will just move. Cade is another story but he is getting better when Hurricane Haley comes thru town.

Look at me walking! I can take 4 or 5 steps on a good day

Pictures

I have been wanting to get pictures made of Haley but just haven't gone back after the less then fun experience at Christmas. So I finally made the call and had pictures taken last Saturday at JC Penney's. We've been a club member since December so I thought I better use it. I was so pleased with how the pictures came out! She did have a slight scratch on her cheek from her nails but oh well, that's our Haley.

It's Hot!

Wow, it is hot outside so we've been trying to stay inside as much as possible. Good thing Haley doesn't mind. I wanted to take her to the water fountain in Market Street but decided it's too hot for that now and wasn't sure she is quite old enough to enjoy it. So once she is walking we'll take her. And on the walking front, she has taken a few more steps on her own. On Monday I had to go to my mom's to pick her up and when I walked in the front door Haley was so excited to see me. She was standing against the couch and took 2 steps into my arms, and of course my heart melted. She did the same to Matt today when he came home. She was playing on the floor and crawled over to the chair then took a few steps to him. What a big girl.
On the talking front, she has "dada" nailed down but that's about it for now. This evening when we were reading her a bedtime story, something fell and Matt said the "S" word. I'm pretty sure Haley was trying to repeat after him but the only thing that halfway came out was "ssss". We're going to have the child like on Meet the Fockers where the baby's first word was a cuss word. Guess it's time we start watching our language more or our kid will get kicked out of the nursery at Church :) Oops.

Here's some pictures from Sunday.

Pushing the lion around. Her favorite thing to do.

Daddy took Haley and Buster swimming. Buster doesn't like water so he was out of the pool quickly. Haley was trying to stand the entire time.

This is so good I think I'll just go to sleep....

New Tastes

Haley's eating has been funny lately. We've been trying to give her stage 3 foods for awhile but she refuses them. As soon as you get them in her mouth she spits it out then locks her gums together so you can't put anymore in. But she loves to eat chunky food so I think I finally figured it out, she wants to feed herself. She's fine with letting you put soft foods in, i.e. rice cereal in the morning, but anything she has to mash she wants to put it in herself, what a character. The dr. gave the ok to give her table food, minus of course nuts and shellfish, so we're having fun seeing what Haley will eat.

So that leads us to her new foods. She loves toast, bananas and hash browns so far. It's a fun game to see what suprise is down her diaper at changing time. I had no idea food could get in so many nooks and crannies. And then today, it was taken to a whole new level... she had her first taste of SPAGHETTI! She loved it. And I loved that Buster loves it cause he was my personal vacuum tonight. Now if I can only teach the dog how to clean the walls :) Below are the pics from her dinner tonight, and of course the major cleanup afterwards. Enjoy.

Hmmm...this is a new taste but not so bad...

Yum, I want some more.

Wanna hug Mom? I have it in between my eyes, in my hair and some in my ears...this is fun!

Bathtime...mom said I can't crawl around on the carpet until I am clean

Almost clean. See...my hair is coming in some. Maybe one day I'll be able to wear a bow

Mom caught me blinking but check out my tooth!

Oh, I almost forgot about Haley's first trip to NASA. She had a blast and loves watching all the kids run around. She just missed seeing the Astronauts practice maneuvers in the swimming pool when they took one of the tours. Grandma reported she was holding on to her diaper bag on the back of the stroller trying to push it to play with the kids. She is getting really good at that. She loves walking but doesn't have the balance yet to do it on her own. She's getting brave and even managed to let go of the sofa and take 1 step to Matt last night but she still has a long ways to go.

New Friends

Haley had a weekend full of meeting new people. On Friday, she hung out in the pool with Daddy and company. Trenton had come over and Haley was trying to play with him but 1 1/2 year old boys don't like girls too much. Haley and Trenton did manage an open mouth kiss but Mom and Dad had to put a stop to that right away. Haley was in bed before dark but I think all the fireworks around woke her back up, which was fine by us. We didn't want her to miss her first 4th of July fireworks. And to our suprise, she watched them across the lake for awhile, it was a good show.

On Saturday Matt, Haley and I drove up to Ft. Worth to attend Kourtney's 1st birthday party. This was the first party Haley has been invited to and we were excited to see her play with the other kiddos, and there were a lot of them. She did really good and had lots of fun. Thanks Kourtney for inviting us! On Sunday we had a great breakfast with Kourtney and Braden, and of course their parents. The kids did great at the table, pretty good for 3 little ones at breakfast time. We headed home after breakfast and Haley slept most of the ride.

Tomorrow Haley is going to meet her other 2nd cousin, Phillip, for the first time. Phillip has been living in Belgium for the past year but has just moved back to Ohio. Great Aunt Jan is bringing down Sarah &Abby and picking up Phillip (her grandkids) at the airport then they, along with Haley and Grandma Jean, are all going to Space Center Houston for the day. Hopefully the 2 grandma's can handle three 7 year olds and a 9month old! Glad I'll be at work :)

Here are some pictuers from this weeekend.

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July everyone! We hope you have a fun and safe 4th.

Haley went to the dr. yesterday for her 9 month checkup. She is 18.2 lbs and is now in the 25-50% - slimming down some. She was 28 inches long but she was squirmming so don't know how accurate that was and her head is holding steady at still above average :) We blame that one on daddy!
She had to get a finger prick to test her iron levels and she didn't even flinch. I was amazed. She was trying to figure out what the shiney thing (band aid) was the nurse put over her finger and couldn't figure out if she should eat it or pull it off. She managed to get if off before the dr. came in. Much different from her dermatologist visit in that she was laughing and playing with the dr - go figure. He said her blood work is perfect and gave her a clean bill of health. He did order 2 shots and those didn't go over as well as the finger prick. Poor thing screamed and had huge tears coming down but that only lasted a minute or so.

Here is a picture of Haley climbing thru the table. She has found it is fun to climb thru small spaces. What she couldn't figure out is what to do when she gets stuck. So Mom came to the rescue and got her out of the table.
